Theatre and equipment upgrades
Mater is excited to announce a major upgrade of Theatre 18 at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane as part of our program of hospital infrastructure investment.

This investment will not only futureproof the facility it will also increase efficiency, allowing a wider scope of procedures to be performed and enhanced digital infrastructure to increase image viewing speeds.

To carry out the works, Operating Theatres 17 and 18 will be closed from Friday 24 December 2021 to Tuesday 15 February 2022, in addition to the closure of Operating Theatre 16 from Friday 24 December 2021 to Wednesday 26 January 2022.

While we are extremely excited to upgrade Theatre 18, we understand that this will cause some disruption and we will work closely with affected VMOs and their practice managers to minimise the impact of this activity.

Upgrading of electrosurgical units at Mater SEQ

Mater is working with Medtronic to upgrade all electrosurgical units across the South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland campuses. The installation of  Medtronic Valleylab ‘FT10’ generators in all operating theatres will underpin open and laparoscopic procedures and support the evolution of  emerging surgical technologies.

The electrosurgical generator upgrade project launched in August 2021 and is due to be completed in 2022.
