Mater’s Vascular team treats a full range of vascular and related conditions, including aneurysm, carotid and peripheral vascular diseases, high risk diabetic foot disease, venous and lower limb ulcerative diseases and other vascular conditions.

Mater has an efficient, high quality vascular service that uses both endovascular and open operative management where appropriate, and have expertise in wound care.

Vascular Surgery at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane

Patients can be seen and admitted privately to Mater Private Hospital Brisbane through direct referral to one of Mater’s vascular surgeons and be assured they will receive the care they need, by their chosen clinician, in a dedicated private hospital facility.

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane’s surgeons have access to the Mater Private CardioVascular Unit (CVU) where endovascular interventional procedures can be performed in space with a clinical layout designed to support cardiovascular procedures.

Procedures that can be performed in the CVU include:

  • diagnostic vascular angiography
  • endovascular interventional procedures (including)
    • carotid stents
    • peripheral stents
    • Renal stents
    • AAA stent-grafts
    • embolisation procedures
    • Atherectomy
    • DBC angioplasty
  • portacath insertion

Mater Hospital Brisbane

Mater Hospital Brisbane is a fully operational tertiary teaching hospital providing specialist outpatient, inpatient and community care to public patients.

Public patients can be referred to Mater Hospital Brisbane’s Outpatient Vascular Clinic via the outpatient referral form or via Smart Referrals.

All referrals are subject to Vascular Surgery Clinical Referral Guidelines and will be triaged and allocated based on clinical categorisation criteria.

Our teams will evaluate and assign a clinical urgency category based on the information provided in a referral.
