Changes to Molecular Microbiology PCR at Mater Pathology

Mater Pathology is transitioning to a new testing platform for molecular microbiology PCR testing of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis and Trichomonas vaginalis (NG, CT, TV) and over the next month will be upgrading from the existing analysers to the new Panther system, from HOLOGIC (Gen-Probe).

Benefits resulting from this transition inlcude improved assay sensitivity and comparable assay specificity, better turnaround times and greater environmental efficiency and sustainability.
