Located on level 7 of the Salmon Building (previously Mater Children's Hospital building) in South Brisbane the newly refurbished area includes consult suites, a dedicated reception area and comfortable waiting areas.
Led by experienced mental health practitioners in private practice who are accredited at Mater and able to seamlessly refer to other Mater specialists if required.
Medicare rebates are available for patients who have a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan or referral from a psychiatrist or paediatrician. Find out more information about GP Mental Health Treatment Plans.
Anyone can see one of our psychologists or social workers without a referral however they will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
GPs or other treating doctors are able to refer patients to see one of our psychiatrists.
It is important to your patient brings their referral to their first appointment.
If you would like your patient to receive a Medicare rebate you will need to complete a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan as part of the referral process. Referrals from paediatricians and psychiatrists also attract a rebate.
The fees charged by the health professionals are set by the individual practitioners and are payable to them at the time of consultation. EFTPOS facilities are available.
Medicare or health fund rebates may be claimed if eligible.
Additional fees may apply for longer appointments and report writing however the health professional will inform the patient if this is likely to occur.
Our psychologists can assist with diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health conditions in children, adolescents and adults. The therapy offered may assist with management of stress, depression, mood and anxiety and relationship difficulties including family based relationships.

Our accredited mental health social workers provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment to individuals, couples, families and groups who are experiencing a range of mental health issues. They help clients to resolve their presenting psychological problems, and associated social and environmental issues, with the aim of improving their quality of life.

Our child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr William (Bill) Bor, provides assessment and treatment for young people and their families experiencing a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, developmental disorders and behavioural problems.
Dr Oreste Theodoratos is a consultation-liaison psychiatrist who sees people ages 18 years and over who may be experiencing pyschological symptoms such as depression or anxiety in association with a diagnosed medical condition.
Dr Theodoratos sees patients who have been admitted to hospital for medical reasons and are receiving care at the request of their treating specialist at that time, with follow up outpatient care as required and by recommendation on discharge.
