New Mater Outpatient Gynaecology appointments available to adolescents and younger women

Thursday 2 July 2015

Mater Hospital Brisbane's Outpatient Gynaecology clinics are accepting GP referrals for adolescents and younger women with gynaecological conditions—catchment criteria for acceptance of referrals do not apply.

Mater has recently appointed two new specialists with advanced training in adolescent gynaecology, and is now able to see teenagers and younger women in addition to existing gynaecology clinic appointments.

Mater's Gynaecology teams can see adolescents and younger women from across South East Queensland with referrals addressing:

  • Concerns of sexual development
  • Menorrhagia, menstrual irregularities, period pain
  • Vulval itch, vulval pain, vaginal discharge
  • Pelvic pain
  • Gynaecological disorders including PCOS or Endometriosis.

To refer young women to the Mater Hospital Brisbane Gynaecology clinic, complete the Mater Outpatient referral form and fax to 07 3163 8548, ensuring a named referral and minimum referral requirements have been met.

Pre-referral guidelines have been developed and are available to assist GPs with referral pathways.

To enquire on any aspect of the adolescent gynaecology service, you may contact the Gynaecology Case Manager directly by telephone 07 3163 3729.
