Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane inpatient ward provides dedicated care for young adults aged 16 to 25 years. Located on level 7 of the Salmon Building, the young adult ward is a custom designed care environment that offers Mater patients a unique experience designed to meet their emotional, social and educational needs. Features of the inpatient ward include:

• 21 bed mixed medical and surgical ward purpose built for young adults 16-25 yrs.
• Single and shared rooms + two negative pressure isolation rooms
• Caring for acute presentations and care for patients with chronic conditions
• In-reach programs - teaching, drug and alcohol, emotional and mental health
• Gym, outdoor area and access to free Wi-Fi

Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane has no designated referral catchment area and acute and urgent referrals should present to Mater Hospital Brisbane Emergency Department.

Non-urgent referrals to the Young Adult Outpatient Clinics can be accessed made via a referral to Mater’s Outpatient Department using the Mater Outpatient Department referral form.

Over 800 young people have been admitted to the Young Adult Inpatient Unit, since it opened late June 2015 (to January 2016) with a mix of chronic and acute conditions. Learn more about Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane.
