Infectious Diseases - public patients

Purpose

This page contains information for general practitioners on how to refer patients aged 16 years and over to the Infectious Diseases service at Mater Hospital Brisbane.

Scope of Service

This service includes referrals for patients with HIV. 

Referrals for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C should be sent to Gastroenterology

This service does not offer diagnosis or review of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Referral Criteria

Please include all of the minimum referral requirements and:

Pathology results that prompted the referral and any previous pathology results.

Anticipated Waiting Times for Appointments

Available appointments are provided to our patients based on clinical priority

PRIORITY SEMI-URGENT ROUTINE

-  Bone or joint infection

-  HIV

-  Recurrent skin infection

Most patients are seen within 2 weeks in usual situations. Most patients are seen within one month in usual situations. Most patients are seen within 2 months in usual situations.
