Q: My patient has an outpatient clinic appointment, but their condition has changed significantly. Who should I contact?
A: Changes in your patient's clinical condition should be notified to our specialists by sending an updated referral with the relevant clinical information. If you need to speak directly to one of our specialist team, contact details for our clinics are available at materonline.org.au/services/outpatient-clinics-adult/referral-guidelines.
For immediate concerns to patient care you can call Mater Teleservices on 07 3163 8111 and ask to speak with the registrar on duty for that specialty.
Q: If Mater’s not part of the Central Referral Hub, why do I sometimes receive reports back from Mater, when I have sent my referral to the Hub?
A: Mater is collaborating with Metro South Hospital and Health Services to support better access to services. Thousands of ‘long wait’ patients have been transferred to Mater for clinics that have capacity to see patients more quickly. If your patient has consented to be transferred you will begin to receive correspondence from Mater to support continuity of care.
Mater is not part of the Central Referral Hub, and continues to manage our own referrals. Refer directly to Mater for direct access to our Outpatient Clinic by faxing the Mater Outpatient Referral form to 07 3163 8548.
The latest outpatient waitlist data is now available at materonline.org.au/waitlisttimes, published 30 November 2015.
Mater Hospital Brisbane will have decreased clinic activity from Thursday 24 December 2015 until Monday 11 January 2016. Clinics will run as normal outside of these times and the Referral and Appointment Management Service will be staffed during this time for referral processing.
During this time the Mater Hospital Brisbane Adult Emergency Department and Mater Private Emergency Care Centre will be fully operational to accommodate acute and emergency patient care.
A complete list of Mater Christmas and New Year opening hours is available in the Latest News section of materonline.org.au.
