Mater provides tertiary emergency medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week via emergency departments at Mater’s South Brisbane hospitals. These include:
Mater’s Private Emergency Care Centre (MPECC), a fee-for-service emergency care, is operated by experienced medical and nursing staff for patients with emergency conditions requiring assessment and treatment. 95 per cent of patients receive treatment within 30 minutes of arrival at the Mater Private Emergency Care Centre.
Mater Private Emergency Care Centre – Paediatric patients
MPECC has been treating paediatric patients for over 20 years and will continue to provide exceptional care for children and their families. If required and clinically appropriate, patients will be admitted to Mater Children's Private Brisbane, or transferred to Queensland Children's Hospital (formerly Lady Cilento Children's Hospital) for tertiary level care.

Mater Hospital Brisbane Adult Emergency offers a 24 hour comprehensive emergency service for adult patients, staffed by experienced emergency doctors, nurses, training registrars and house officers.

Mater Hospital Brisbane Adult Emergency does not not provide treatment for paediatric patients, who should be referred to either Mater Private Emergency Care Centre or Queensland Children's Hospital in an emergency.
