Biography

Dr Kelly van den Haspel is an Obstetrician Gynaecologist with Kindred, who delivers at Mater Mothers' Private Brisbane.

Kelly believes every woman and family have a different pregnancy journey and require holistic, personalised care. From normal to high-risk, Kelly encourages her patients to be involved in decision-making processes.

Her goal is to provide evidence-based guidance and support patients to make informed decisions throughout pregnancy and birth. She loves working collaboratively with midwives and other health care specialists to provide woman-centred care.

Special areas of obstetric interest include pre-pregnancy counselling, early pregnancy loss, pre-term birth prevention, management of obesity, diabetes and hypertension in pregnancy, vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC) and complex operative obstetrics.

Alongside her obstetric practice, Kelly has a keen interest in family planning, management of pelvic pain and heavy menstrual bleeding.

She performs a wide range of gynaecological surgery including laparoscopic hysterectomies, treatment of endometriosis and ovarian cysts, endometrial ablation, management of abnormal cervical screening and hysteroscopic surgery. Kelly also performs many office gynaecological procedures.

Kelly is friendly and approachable; her practice is inclusive of all women and families and is a safe space for members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Kelly grew up and completed medical school in Townsville before undertaking RANZCOG training at the Royal Women’s Hospital and Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne.

She relocated back to Queensland to be closer to family after welcoming her first child in 2020.
