Dr Clara Menezes is a general paediatrician offering comprehensive medical care at Mater Private Hospital Redland.
Dr Menezes’ areas of interest include neonatology, general paediatrics, allergies, and the genetic and epigenetic factors contributing to chronic conditions from birth up to the age of 16 years. She also has a special interest include growth and developmental issues in primary school aged children.
Dr Menezes is also experienced in forensic and child protection paediatrics, indigenous health and providing holistic care that considers the social and cultural aspects of health.
She strives to provide early developmental intervention and continuity of care, for better long-term outcomes.
Dr Menezes obtained her Science Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) degree from Bangalore University in 1990 and her Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Paediatrics in 1999. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Paediatricians (FRACP) in 2010, completed her Master of Public Health (MPH) at Monash University in 2014 and finished the Practical Medical Genomics course at UNSW in 2022.
She has a diverse training and work background, including working with children in remote missionary hospitals in India. She has also worked as a paediatric and neonatal fellow at Monash Children’s Hospital and a specialist paediatrician at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, and Latrobe Regional Hospital in Victoria, the Mackay Base Hospital in Queensland and The Tweed Hospital in New South Wales.
She is an active member of and clinical examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and has also been involved with the college’s written-exam committee. She also teaches medical students and has been an educational coordinator for paediatrics at James Cook University.
Dr Menezes consults Tuesdays and Wednesday fortnightly in Redland and is accepting new referrals now.
