Mater’s newest hospital, Mater Private Hospital Springfield has welcomed its first patients, joining Mater’s existing network of hospitals, community health centres, research institute, and pathology and pharmacy businesses.
Stage one of Mater Private Hospital Springfield is an 80-bed, $85 million hospital, including a state-of-the-art cancer care centre, partially funded by $21.4 million from the Australian Government. The facility includes a cancer care centre, four operating theatres, inpatient wards, a day surgery unit and medical imaging.
Initially Mater Private Hospital Springfield will focus on referral based short stay elective surgical and medical care, with stage two plans to include a greater variety of specialities.
Cancer Care Centre
The day medical oncology service at the Mater Cancer Care Centre Springfield provides services for a range of tumour streams. The service is managed using a comprehensive framework of coordinated care, providing treatment plans for all types of solid tumours.
Fully supported by Radiation Oncology Queensland, the state-of-the-art cancer centre, partially funded by $21.4 million from the Australian Government, will initially include a linear accelerator and 15 medical oncology treatment bays.
