On Saturday 31 August, Mater Health was proud to host over 30 General Practitioners (GPs) for our first full day GP Education Orthopaedics workshop.

Over the course of the day, participants took part in a focussed and face-to-face interactive workshop, directed by nine of Mater’s most esteemed Orthopaedic Surgeons from Mater Private Hospitals Brisbane, Redland and Springfield.

The success of the Orthopaedics education day was down to a collaboration of skills and minds—Mater’s Orthopaedic specialists, our GP partners, and medical educators; wide consultation with the GP community identified the orthopaedic challenges faced in day-to-day practice, which were then incorporated into the program to ensure the day was relevant, useful and educational.

Topics covered all aspects of orthopaedics across upper limb, lower limb, general, sports and acute injuries and imaging, and delivery was with a hands-on and interactive approach.

Mater has a long history of supporting GPs with their learning needs having provided GP Education for over 15 years, and it was great to see our GP partners embrace this new format around orthopaedics.

Mater’s GP Education program offers GPs and specialists the opportunity to be involved in high quality and engaging education sessions that tap into Mater’s extensive scope of patient care and services.

Mater’s presenters and educators are highly regarded knowledge leaders in their chosen fields, and Mater’s program comprises of an annual calendar of sought-after seminars and conferences, consistently delivering world-class education.

For GPs who were unable to attend the Orthopaedics workshop, there are still opportunities to learn and earn valuable QI&CPD points for the 2017-19 triennium.
